Rosy Maple Moth - 12" x 12" - hooked art

This art piece is an appreciation of the Rosy Maple moths that visit us here in Maine every summer. I often find them on the screen door or in our entryway at  the Parris House. 

Wool strip hooked on linen foundation, hand hooked, loop by loop. Hand dyed and textured wools, sari silk, glass and semi-precious gem beads. Stuffed applique w/fly stitch and simple cut embellishments. 

Finished with sari silk whip stitching.
